TransBiodiesel has both short and long terms R&D objectives. The company's short- term plans are to operate a semi-industrial pilot plant (expected in April 2009), which will have the capability to produce 10 m3 of biodiesel per four-hour batch. In parallel production parameters will be improved and a further reduction in production costs is expected. The company's long-term plans are to develop enzyme-based catalysts for biodiesel production processes, which utilize bioethanol rather than methanol. |
